Williamsburg Virginia

My photo
Dave is an an Army brat and retired from the Air Force in 2006 and is now working as an AF civilian. Debbie works in real estate for a local firm. We both enjoy the outdoors and being 'tree-huggers' as we have been called. As tree-huggers, we enjoy feeding 'our' herd of backyard deer and their friends the squirrels, birds, foxes, possums, and raccoons. Between us we have seven kids and eleven grand-kids spread out from Virginia to Texas, to Idaho to Washington.

Return of the Backyard Turtle

Just sitting on the deck this evening when our old friend the turtle darted out from under a bush and scurried across the deer-corn food plot area.  I was lucky enough to grab the camera before it sped back to the under-growth.  I'm pretty sure it is an Eastern Box Turtle.  It has been about a year since we last saw one.

..... and then there were two!

Made another leisurely trip down the parkway to see 'our' eagle's nest and spotted another eaglet in the nest.  Finally saw the osprey nest just across the parkway from the eagle's nest.

Eagle's Nest

We took another trip down the parkway the other day after work and finally spotted the eaglet in the nest.  Not the clearest of pictures to say the least but they don't exactly listen to you when you say "Be still!"

Return From Boot Camp!

Well, it has taken me about a week to recover from our pilgramage down south to attend the inaugural Landscaping Boot Camp in Charlotte.

Spring ...... uhhhhh ..... Summer is in the air!

Seems like just yesterday I was enjoying a trek through the snow in Colonial Williamsburg watching all the tourists scurry for cover and now all of a sudden it is Summer again - with the heat in tow.  Not even sure what happened to Spring to tell you the truth.
