Williamsburg Virginia

My photo
Dave is an an Army brat and retired from the Air Force in 2006 and is now working as an AF civilian. Debbie works in real estate for a local firm. We both enjoy the outdoors and being 'tree-huggers' as we have been called. As tree-huggers, we enjoy feeding 'our' herd of backyard deer and their friends the squirrels, birds, foxes, possums, and raccoons. Between us we have seven kids and eleven grand-kids spread out from Virginia to Texas, to Idaho to Washington.

Missed the Snow ..... Again

While my (David's) favorite seasons are Fall and Winter I really look forward to winter so I can take some pictures in the Historical Triangle area. I have been fortunate in the past to be on Jamestown Island vitually alone during the snow,  as well as in Yorktown and on the Colonial Parkway (see images), and even Colonial Williamsburg (see previous blog) - the picture opportunities are endless which is why I hate to miss the chance.

But, while we have been
fortunate to be here during
the snow, it seems more often than not we are out of  town.
The Nor-Easter that came up through the mid-Atlantic coast on into New England this weekend (including snow in Williamsburg) missed us because we were in Charlotte North Carolina (yep, just south of the snow line). We've left before for weekends only to come back and find half-melted snowmen falling down throughout the neighborhood - and we didn't even know it was supposed to snow.

So, another missed opportunity to drive the Colonial Parkway in the snow and visit Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown.  Maybe better luck next time but I fear winter has come and gone once again.
