Dave is an an Army brat and retired from the Air Force in 2006 and is now working as an AF civilian. Debbie works in real estate for a local firm. We both enjoy the outdoors and being 'tree-huggers' as we have been called. As tree-huggers, we enjoy feeding 'our' herd of backyard deer and their friends the squirrels, birds, foxes, possums, and raccoons. Between us we have seven kids and eleven grand-kids spread out from Virginia to Texas, to Idaho to Washington.

Our animal friends

Dave was out on the deck this evening cooking up some vittles on the grill and watching 'our' herd of deer about 8 yards away below the deck. Tonight was a high-count with eight deer - all does. We throw out corn and peanust to our 'friends' and have conversations with them - swear they are listening. They don't spook for the most part and just graze while we yap at 'em. Every now and then they are joined by the foxes (have seen two) and raccoons (untold numbers) and the ocassional possum.

After we ate Dave went out to put the grill cover on and after a couple of minutes he noticed that the 'ocassional' possum was sitting on the deck watching him - sat there the whole time he was covering the grill. Finally departed after he went back inside. Last night we peered out and saw two bucks - both 4-points (eastern count) but both pretty good size (for eastern backyard whitetails). The picture to the right was taken earlier this year on our deck.
